Spring Design Auctions Part Deux
More Action at Sotheby's This Week
Hello design lovers, we’re back this week at Sotheby’s to check out the collection of Emmanuel de Bayser. The sale is called “Of Form and Color: Art and Design from the Emmanuel de Bayser Collection.” Who is Emmanuel de Bayser, you ask? I had to Google him as well. Here is a nice video to give you insight on his background and collecting ethos:
You can’t argue at all with Emmanuel’s taste or the pieces that he has chosen, but if I’m frank, it’s pretty predictable and so on-point for the late 90s early 2000s that I find it, shall I say, boring? That sounds harsh and I don’t mean it to be, but I’ve seen this all before and there are not many surprises. Isn’t that what we’re all looking for? Something familiar yet surprising when it comes to decorating our home? I don’t want to be scared shitless or uncomfortable in my house, but I do like when something makes me think and reconsider what I’m about to sit in or look at. Because of this I’m only picking the pieces from Emmanuel’s collection that give me that feeling. This sale will do very well because it’s full of what everyone wants, but if you are also one of the weirdos who don’t want what everyone else has, I’ll pick some winners out of the 202 lots in the sale starting with this:
